Many might be curious to know who the youngest billionaire in Africa is, well meet the Tanzanian CEO of METL a trading, distribution, and importation company in Tanzania. Mohammed Dewji is also a businessman, philanthropist and former politician. He took over his successful family business and turned it into a billion dollar empire in a few years. Born in 1975, Mohammed had his early years of schooling in Tanzania, before proceeding to America for his high school education in Saddle brook High School New Jersey. He then went on to attain a degree in George Town University to in Washington D.C where he studied international business and finance.

His company currently operates in over 6 countries across Africa with a very high rate in revenue.   Mohammed was named the youngest African billionaire by Forbes in 2015 and still remains so till date. According to Forbes, Mohammed Dewji is Tanzania’s only billionaire with a Net worth of 1.5 Billion US dollars.  Mohammed Dewji also has a brief career in his countries’ politics where he served as a Member of Tanzania’s Parliament for two terms. In 2015 he was also voted the Business leader of the year at the African Business awards. Mohammed also runs a foundation named the Mo Dewji foundation which aims at creating a lasting solution to enhance the quality of life and well-being for the citizens in Tanzania. Mohammed Dewji joined the giving pledge in 2016 where he vowed to give away half of his acquired wealth to philanthropic causes.
